Could you please give me some information about finding out how to get a discharge of my federal student loans if I have recently become disabled?
A total and permanent disability discharge relieves you from having to repay a William D. Ford Federal District Loan Direct Loan Program loan, a Federal Family Education Loan FFEL Program loan, and/or a Federal Perkins Loan or to complete a TEACH Grant service obligation.
Are you attempting to qualify for the total and permanent disability discharge?
I am not at this time. I am just needing to seek information about the possibility.
Does this type of discharge actually also apply for TEACH Grant service obligations?
It does indeed.

How would I be able to show that I qualify for the TPD discharge of my loan and obligations?
Do you have documentation from either the Department of Veterans Affairs, the SSA, or a physician?
I do have that documentation, yes.
Is your documentation from the Department of Veterans Affairs?
It is.
You will be able to use that documentation to show that you qualify for a TPD discharge.
