Hello, I need help with getting my benefits.
================
Of course. Would you like to schedule your exam then?
Yes, sure.
Then you'll have to contact your local VA environmental health coordinator. If you qualify, you won't have to pay anything for this exam.
================
Sounds great. What if I had contact with that nasty agent orange? Does the exam cover this?
You can request a VA Agent Orange Registry health exam. Even if you don't have a known illness, the exam could alert you to illnesses that may be related to contact with herbicides.
================
Alright. How do I know if I qualify for such an exam?
You must have either served in Vietnam between 1962 and 1975 for any length of time, including in the inland waterways Brown Water Navy and within the 12-mile territorial seas Blue Water Navy, or in Korea in a unit in or near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) anytime between April 1, 1968, and August 31, 1971.
================
I see. What are you going to examine then?
Several things. For example, your history of contact with Agent Orange and other herbicides and your health history including any major illnesses or surgeries you may have had.
================
Is the exam free for veterans?
Yes, it's free for qualified Veterans.
What if I am a veteran who does qualify?
Then you won't have to pay anything for this exam.
