Hi, I am looking to take out a student loan and would like to know what a Mater Promissory Note is?
A Master Promissory Note (MPN) is a legal document in which you promise to repay your loan and any accrued interest and fees to the U.S. Department of Education. It also explains the terms and conditions of your loan.
I am looking to apply for a Direct Unsubsidized Loan, does this loan have the same MPN as a Direct PLUS Loan?
Both loans have MPNs but they are different, each one applying to a particular loan.
================
Were can I find a copy of the MPN for a Direct PLUS Loan?
You can download the PDF for the MPN for Direct PLUS Loans. This can be used for Direct PLUS Loans that are eligible for graduate/professional students.

As a graduate/professional student should I complete the MPN?
================
If you are applying for Direct Unsubsidized Loan or a Direct PLUS Loan you should complete the MPN. Are you applying for one of these loans?
No I am not applying at this stage.
================
When I am ready to apply what do I need to complete the application?
You will need a verified username and password and FSA ID. Then you will be able to complete the application.
