Hi there. I'm about to be a TNC driver, but i don't even know what that means, can you help me?
No problem. TNC stands for transportation network company, a term defined in a recently enacted part of the State Vehicle & Traffic Law. In other words, a TNC is a "rideshare company" licensed by DMV to use a digital network to connect passengers to TNC drivers for prearranged trips.

To do that, I guess i need permission from you, isn't?
No. DMV does not have nothing to do with your clearence for being a TNC, but it could be something required by a TNC Company.
================
Umm, o.k. So, i guess you don't know the insurance requirements for a TNC driver, right?
That's something for the TNC company. They have to make sure their drivers understand and effectively have the proper insurance.
You're going to be a TNC driver right?
Yes, That's right, that's why i wanted to know about this.
Then you should contact the TNC company you are interested to work with so they can give you more details.
================
 Yeah, i already thought about doing that. I can use any vehicle to do that right? i mean, like a truck or something?
Sorry, but no. TNC rules forbid use of taxis, delivery vehicles, limousines or licensed for-hire vehicles from being used as a TNC vehicle.

Oh, that's a boomer. And i suppose that applies to pick up random passengers too, right?
You guessed right. Unless you're separately authorized by the NYC Taxi&Limousine Commission.
