First two parts of the set are here and here. A surprisingly coherent early show from GBV packed with klassic kuts is a balm to the bummed-out soul. Thanks to popsnacking for the links.

By the way, that photo posted by the Mayors Office a few days ago, of the OWS library safe and sound and ready for pickup was pure PR a lie.
thepoliticalnotebook:
The saga of the OWS library books continues
There are only about 25 boxes of books; many of the books are destroyed. Laptops here but destroyed. Cant find tent or shelves. Many books destroyed. Most equipment -and structures missing most of library is missing (ALL of the reference section btw), damaged or destroyed.
Mandy Henk, one of OWS Peoples Librarys volunteer librarians, on what she found when she arrived at the 57th St. Garage to reclaim the books and electronics confiscated.
The mayors office tweeted a photo yesterday in response to outcry over reports that the books had been destroyed, saying they were safe and sound. According the Maddow Blog, their pants are kind of on fire. The librarians, who went with a full list of what had been taken, were told to come back later to see if anything turned up from the garbage.

OWS Peoples Library seized again last night
From The Peoples Library blog:
The NYPD seized the Peoples Library again tonight. We set up the library again today with 100 books, and the police came over this evening and stood in a line around the books, blocking anyone from reaching the books by creating a fence with their batons. The officers then ordered the Brookfield property sanitation crew to throw them in a trash can. We photographed it all, and video is available on the blog here. The police were asked why they were taking the books and one officer said I dont know.
It boggles my mind how literal this censorship is, and they dont even realize it. Dense. Dense as hell.
I wonder when the last time was that these fucking cops read a book. Hope theyre enjoying being the perfect illiterate patsies / henchmen for the Bloombergs, bankers, and billionaires of the world.

Really crucial cat-eye tutorial by Arabelle at Rookie, the magazine I write for. This photo was styled by Tavi, taken by Petra Collins, and is my favorite editorial image of Fall 2011. If youre not reading Rookie yet, you should start. Its smart and stylish and honest and hilarious and has some of the best writing on the web right now, bar none. I am so goddamn proud to be a part of it.
